Take your turtle to work day!

Yup. Monday was take my turtle to work day. No, not a realy turtle... this turtle!

Eric won it for me this past weekend at the State Fair! Three shots on the Crossbow and I had a turtle! :)

After bringing my turtle in to the office I came to a realization. I have way too many stuffed animals in my office. See...:

Am I going to get rid of any of them? No. They're mine. So there. Thppt.

Not much else is going on. It's been a busy week at work so I've been going home and sleeping. Then getting up and going to work. Repeat.

Time to pack. Heading into the cold this weekend. Buh-bye!

The hat is up!

I took Monday off because it was my wedding anniversary and also because I had to have a nasal endoscopy. Wee. Yay. :P But what that means to all of you is that I didn't see them set up the hats for the Hats with Heart Contest. When I walked through the hospital the next day, they were all set up. And I was really glad to see there were a bunch more this year than last year. :) See...:

Here's a few more close ups of the three displays:

And of coures, here's mine:

I think it looks good on display. Hopefully I'll get a few votes. *Laugh* :D

When I got home today, I had a package from my SP waiting for me. Sweet!

Can I just say this is the funkiest bag I have ever gotten? :P I can honestly say I don't think I would have ever bought it for myself but I do like it and it will most certainly get used! And not just for knitting. This is so a 'going out in Montreal' bag! But I didn't just get this way kewl bag. Lookie what was inside!

:O Shimmer yarn! *bounces with glee!*

And dice! DICE! And some playing cards. And some cards in general. And the hands down niftiest stitch markers I have ever gotten.

Munchkin even. And the Duck of Doom even! LOL! I love these!

Oh I need to go find a pattern to knit with this shimmer yarn so I can use those stitch markers! :)

Friends don't let friends sneeze and drive!

Or maybe I should have titled this post:

DAMS - Drivers Against Multi-Smeezers. (I sneeze in threes.)

or even:

D.A.R.E. to keep your loved ones on Claritan!

Nah, those both suck.

Anyhoo, I made that mistake and I sneezed while driving. And here are the results:

And a close up:

You know... I had planned to take the front license plate bracket off. I guess my decision has been made for me. :P

How did this happen you ask? Well let me tell you. I was in a line of stopped traffic. I was slipping the clutch (as is usual for me). I saw the car ahead of me start to move. I did as well. I sneezed. I looked up and well, the rest is me screaming "SHIT!" and rear-ending the car ahead of me. Her SUV was perfectly fine. My car, well, please see above.

I called USAA (our insurance company) and filed claim. The adjuster called me today to confirm that I had made an appointment at the body shop for an estimate and to confirm the circumstances of the accident. Her name was Tracy. She was very nice.

Tracy: "Was any part of your body hurt or bruised?"
Me: "Just my pride."
Tracy: (Laughs hard and loud.) "We don't cover that."

So Monday I'll learn how much the damage is. (Pun intended thank you very much.)

So home I went and to knitting I got. Grumbling the whole while, I worked some more on my sock.

I know, I know. I'm supposed to be finishing I Do, but my mood was not one for dealing with beads. I would have ended up probably throwing it across the room. At least with knitting a sock on double pointed needles, you have the satisfaction of stabbing yourself every three minutes in the breast to calm you down and make your knitting less aggressive.

Here's a close up of the stitches:

I really like this yarn.

On to other things. I have learned a lesson. When in doubt, do not stop for gas in this outfit:

I went to a friend's "Black and White Masquerade Ball" on Tuesday night. Sans the mask, I still got plenty of raised eyebrows from the folks at the local Citgo. :)

Here's me dancing to "Tainted Love":

It was a lot of fun.

Of course when I got home from the ball that night, the cats seemed particularly interested in my knitting bag. I'm not quite sure why though since it had just stayed in the car all night.

Here's Trouble doing what she does best... causing trouble:

And here's Fang investigating:

I am getting to the point where I have to stop knitting to make the heel...and keep wondering if I can just like make it a tube sock and that will be ok. HA HA HA...I have a great fear of the heel...I will be calling soon, I foresee it. Heh heh.

*waiting patiently by the phone* :)

You know I don't know if they would let me do that but it would be nice. :)

anyway though fang is a great name...hehe to go from something so soft like velvet to FANG! is just plain funny and it feels good to laugh so early in the morning.

You know, I didn't even think about what her previous name meant and what her new name means. *laugh* I'm glad I brightened your day! :) It's what I'm here for. Well, that and the complaining. Mostly the latter.

Ain't nothing like a deadline!

Well apparently it was the deadline that lit the fire under my ass. September 30th was the deadline for the Hats with Heart Contest. And I made it in time! Thursday night when I got home, that hat wasn't done. When I went to bed it was! :D

Here it is:

Now those ladies at the Cancer center are either very good liars or very easily impressed. :P They were just -gushing- with compliments over this hat! Now, don't get me wrong, it's cute (at least I think so) but I wouldn't go out of my mind for it. *laugh* I felt could have done better but then, I did want something a bit simple. I'm pleased with it (especially with that double knit band!) and that is all that really matters. It will go on display with all the other hats on October 10th (my wedding anniversary to be exact) and the voting will commence. I already have ideas for what I'll do for next year's contest. In the mean time though, I will probably knit a few more hats for the cancer center. :)

So now the energy is back! And I have lots to do. I've already started tossing around ideas for what to knit for the holidays. I called The Yarn Harlot's Hotline at 877-SOS-KNIT. A must for anyone that has ever had a knitting deadline. I schnarfed my soda all over my office I was laughing so hard when I called. Yes, the warranted more than a few odd stares from my colleagues. :)

In kitty news, Eric and I have decided to change Velvet's name to Fang. She never answered to Velvet. For some reason, she answers to Fang. We decided to go with Fang because she has an extra one on the right side of her mouth. I think it's a baby tooth that just hasn't fallen out yet but sometimes it makes her look like she is scowling at us. Trouble is still Trouble (in more ways than one) although we sometimes refer to her as Princess Headbutt (but she doesn't answer to it).

Ragan said: you can keep teaching me how to make socks if it makes you feel any better.

*laugh* Oh I think it was some down time for me. But this doesn't mean you can't call me if you need help. :)

Heather said: Do you make housecalls? I sure could use a couple sock knitting lessons. I swear, I have more sock yarn then anyone i know but have yet to knit a pair of socks! Hang there...your inspiration will be back soon!

No I don't make house calls, but always feel free to call me! :) Oh and I think I can go toe to toe (no pun intended!) with you on the amount of sock yarn you have. Remember when
Knitpicks had their sale? *nodnodnod* Yeah, I got to the $30 minimum for free shipping on sock yarn alone! :O

Erica said: I love knitting socks. I just never care to knit the pair. I have three mateless socks

I have only one mateless sock right now. It mocks me. It stares at me. It besmirches my name. It tells me that if I don't make it a mate soon, it's going to list itself on Match.com. (By the way all... do visit Erica's blog. She has the cutest kitties!)

Stephanie said: Erica, you don't have three mateless socks. you have a sockage et trois.

Too funny! *gasps for air* Brilliant!

Stephanie also said: Lisa, hope you made your deadlines and that you're enjoying the wedding.

Barely made them but yes, I did. Thanks. And sadly no, I did not make it to the wedding. But I did get to see a lot of lovely pics. :)

With all that said, it's time to hit the needles!
